More Than One Table
A Child’s Circle Was Never Meant to Be SmallOur homes are busy the way any full house is busy. There’s school and practice, music lessons, church on Sunday, Ranch brothers and sisters around the table — and houseparents who are there for every bit of it.
Volunteer families widen that circle. Some keep a Ranch home running for a weekend. Some open their own home to one of our children, and can become like an aunt, an uncle, or a grandparent over time. Some come alongside the foster parents raising children in our Communities. One more family supporting them and praying for them by name.
For the houseparents and foster parents of our children, a volunteer family is a lifeline — steady hands beside them in the everyday work of home.

Three Ways to Come Alongside a Big Oak Ranch Family
Each one fits a different family and a different season. You don’t have to know which path is for you before you reach out — our team will help you find it.
Resource Families
One weekend a month, a child at the Boys’ Ranch or Girls’ Ranch is welcomed into a resource family’s home — a family who can become like an aunt, uncle, grandparent, or close family friend.
Relief Families
On select weekends, a relief family steps into one of our Ranch homes and stewards the role of parents, keeping the rhythms of the house going while our houseparents are away.
Respite Families
Respite Families are licensed to open their own home to children from our Communities, standing with the foster parents raising them.
