Serve With Us
There are jobs, and then there are callings
Every role at Big Oak Ranch — houseparenting, social work, counseling, the administrative office, the grounds — serves the same purpose: to provide a Christian home for children needing a chance.
The Calling
Whatever the role, the mission is the same.Big Oak Ranch provides a Christian home for children needing a chance and gives them a pathway to discover God’s purpose and plan for their lives.
Every person who serves here carries a piece of that, whether you’re the counselor sitting with a child, the social worker answering a family’s first call, or part of the teams that keep Big Oak Ranch running.
Our children won’t remember anyone’s job title. They’ll remember who was there. And you won’t carry it alone — you’ll carry it alongside people who are called here too.
Talk With Our TeamJesus is our message. Children are our heart.

Child Placing Agency Social Worker
You’ll provide care coordination and case oversight for children placed through Big Oak Ranch’s Child Placing Agency and walk alongside the Foster Parents serving within Big Oak Ranch Communities.
Working closely with the Child Placing Agency Lead, you’ll help coordinate referrals and facilitate placements, assist with licensing individual foster homes and parents, maintain required case documentation, communicate with the Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) and other members of each child’s care team, and help Foster Parents access the support and resources needed to care well for the children in their homes.
Every task — referrals, licensing, documentation, phone calls — helps a child land in a home ready to love them well.
Candidates must have a master’s degree or higher in Social Work from an accredited university and hold an LMSW license or higher.
Location — Springville, Alabama
Director of Counseling
As Director of Counseling, you’ll lead counseling services within our Christ-centered, family-based model of care. You’ll provide leadership to staff therapists, coordinate with trusted outside providers, and work closely with houseparents and Childcare leadership to ensure counseling strengthens children, parents, and the home.
You’ll provide clinical oversight, consultation, training, assessment and intake support, case coordination, and direct counseling, while helping develop effective and consistent clinical practices across Big Oak Ranch.
The ideal candidate combines clinical excellence, strong leadership and communication skills, mature Christian faith, and a commitment to family-centered care.
Candidates must hold a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field and be a licensed mental health professional in Alabama. Experience in clinical leadership and oversight is required. Experience working with children and families in residential care, foster care, child welfare, or a similar setting is preferred.
Location — Gadsden, Alabama
Social Work Administrative Assistant
As the Social Work Administrative Assistant, you’ll receive intake calls from families seeking to place a child at Big Oak Ranch — listening to each family’s situation, gathering important information, and helping guide them through the first steps of the referral process.
Alongside intake, you’ll provide administrative support to the Social Work and Childcare teams: recordkeeping, scheduling, reporting, trainings, and the day-to-day needs across the Boys’ Ranch and the Girls’ Ranch.
For many families, you’re the first voice they hear from Big Oak Ranch — often on one of the hardest days they’ve had. You’re warm on the phone, unhurried with people in difficult circumstances, and steady enough to move from that conversation straight into the details it created.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and previous administrative experience preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort working with database systems.
Location — Springville, Alabama
