Become a Relief Family
Being a relief family means a Ranch home keeps its rhythm when the houseparents are away. It is also an opportunity to help create a steady path toward healing for the children in our care.
These families step into one of our Ranch homes on select weekends and steward the role of parents, keeping the rhythms of the house going.
The process begins with an application and background check. Our team is here to support and guide you every step of the way.

Can we serve as a relief family with our own children?
Yes! You can volunteer as a relief family with your children.
How many children will be in our care for the weekend, and what is the time commitment?
Relief Families stay in one of our resident homes with up to six resident children for a weekend. During the school year, relief families serve from Fridays at 3 p.m. until Sundays at 6 p.m. During the summer, they serve from Fridays at 8 a.m. until Sundays at 6 p.m.
What are the responsibilities of a relief family?
On select weekends, relief families steward the role of parents — cooking the meals, getting our kids to practices, games, events, and jobs, as well as helping with the normal rhythms of everyday life. It’s a great opportunity to offer our children continued stability and support, and also to build relationships with other houseparents.
Do relief families get paid?
No, relief families serve as volunteers.
