For our ASCEND graduates, this is not the end of the journey — it is the beginning of a new chapter. After years of hard work and dedication, we are excited to share what they have accomplished and what is next for each of them. We cannot wait to see all they will do in the years ahead.

After receiving my Electrical Certification from Fortis Institute and my Welding Certificate from Lawson State, I am now looking for a job in my field. Chris and Olivia, our ASCEND guides, helped me with everything — financially, spiritually, and mentally — everything you could think of.
In life, I hope to be successful, not just career-wise, but as a man. I want to learn from everybody that I can, start a family one day, and live my life enjoying all the little things.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from UAB in December 2025 and will obtain my master’s in Business Administration from UAB in August. I am now pursuing my master’s degree in Marketing while also coaching and competing at an MMA gym.
During my time at ASCEND, the life skills classes that helped me most were budgeting and saving, time management, and finding a church. My confidence and my relationship with the Lord have both grown during my time there. My dream is to one day have a professional MMA fighting career so I can support my family.

I came to ASCEND in 2023 and will graduate from Jefferson State Community College in August with an associate degree in Baking and Pastry. I plan to continue my education in Event Planning and Catering. I also earned my STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) certification to work on a boat, as well as my PSVD certification in private detail security.
My dream is to travel and see everything that God created on this earth. After graduation, I plan to work on a yacht to explore new places and use the skills I have learned. I am very grateful for my time at ASCEND and for all the opportunities and support I have received.

I will graduate from UAB in August with a major in Finance. I’m proud of myself for being dedicated and getting through difficult classes while having a job.
From my time at Big Oak Ranch and ASCEND, I have learned that family means being there in the hardest moments — not leaving when it gets tough, but staying with you no matter what. My ultimate goal is to become a manager at a bank or investment firm. I also hope to have a family one day.

I came to ASCEND in 2023 when I was 19 years old. I graduated from Lawson State, where I earned a Long Certificate in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration and a Short Certificate in Electrical. I have been interning with an electrical company, and I look forward to working there full-time.
At ASCEND, I have grown and matured in my spiritual walk and in life. I’m very thankful for the Ranch — I really don’t know where I would be in life without them.
How ASCEND Helps Our Children
“Each of these young adults has shown determination, resilience, and a willingness to keep growing. It has been a privilege to watch them pursue their goals and step confidently into the future God has for them.”
— Chris Ngo, ASCEND Director
